Born in Shizuoka-shi on July 1st

1962

Made his debut in motorcross at age 15

1964

Signed a contract with Team Kawasaki Motorcycle Racing and turned pro at age 17

1965

Won the first ever victory of 90cc Novice class of Japan Motocross Championship and completed the season with 4 victories.
Won Championship in MCFAJ Ranking / Novis 90cc.

1966

Won 5 victories in Motocross.

1967

Took the All-Japan motorcross championship at age 19

1968

Signed contract as a rider for Kawasaki (Kobe Konomi Racing)

1969

Signed a contract with Nissan Auto Racing and made his debut as an automobile race driver

1970

Won the first ever victory of 4 wheels race at Tsukuba Circuit with driving SKYLINE GT-R.

1971

Dominated the light class, driving a Nissan Cherry

1972

Won the 2nd place in Race De Japon in April with Cherry Coupe (Champion in the class).

1973

Picked up the moniker "Cherry Hoshino" and was a central attraction in the racing world

1974

Drove his first Formula machine, a Mach733
At this time, in the Suzuka Formula race he pulled away from the pack, winning by along stretch.

1975

Made entry in the F2 and GC (Grand Championship) races in the same year, won the All-Japan F2 Championship series

1976

Won numerous races (5 each year). Picked up a new moniker "Fastest Man in Japan"

1977

Won the championship of All Japan F2000.
Won the 2nd place in Suzuka F2 series.
Finished 11th place in F1 Japan GP with driving Kojima KE009 Ford.

1978

Won the championship of All Japan F2000.
Made entry to Europe F2 Championship (Rouen, France and Donington, UK). This is the first overseas expedition.

1979

Won the 2nd place in championship of All Japan F2000.
Won the championship of Suzuka F2 series.

1980

Established Hoshino Impul Co., Ltd., and started development, manufacture and sales of automobile parts

1981

Won two consecutive victories in the FP (Formula Perfect) series

1982

Won the championships for the GC, FP and G5 (Super Silhouette) series for a triple crown year.

1983

Established Hoshino Racing Inc.
Won Suzuka F2 series champion.
Finished 4th place as a spot entry in the Europe F2 Championship at the Dunington Park Circuit.

1984

Won the GC Perfect championship using a BMW engine winning out over a high-powered Honda.

1985

Won his second consecutive GC championship victory and became the first Japanese winner of the WEC Japan.

1986

Challenged the Le Mans 24-hour race on Team Nissan for the first time.
Lead a test team for development of a Honda F1 machine.
Won the Suzuka F2 series championship

1987

Made entry to F3000 and won both the F3000 and GC class series championships for a double crown year.

1988

Won vice-champion of F3000 and won 3rd place of series of GC.

1989

Won the 3rd place of F3000.

1990

Won 5th place in the Le Mans 24-hour race on Team Nissan.
Won both championships of F3000 and Group A class series for a double crown year.

1991

Won JSPC series champion

1992

Competed in the Daytona 24 hour race in a Nissan R91CP and became the first winner who drove Japanese car.
Won JSPC-C1 champion.

1993

Won F3000 series champion.
Won the 2nd place in Japan Touring Car Championship.

1994

Finished 8th place in F3000.
Finished 8th place in new JTCC(Japan Touring Car Championship) with driving Nissan Primera.

1995

Finished 4th place in F3000 and won the 3rd place in JTCC with driving Nissan Primera.

1996

Won the 3rd place in F3000, and 4th in JGTC(SKYLINE GT-R LM).
Finished 15th place in Le Man 24.

1997

Announced retirement from Formula (Career stats: Victories; 39/166 races, Pole Positions; 42).
Finished at 12 place in the Le Man 24-hour race with driving Nissan R390.
Made entry to JGTC with driving SKYLINE GT-R.

1998

Won the 3rd place in the Le Mans 24-hour race as the first Japanese trio with driving a Nissan R390.

1999

Finished 6th place in JGTC.

2000

Won the 3rd in JGTC with driving SKYLINE GT-R.

2001

Finished 13th place in JGTC with driving SKYLINE GT-R.
As TEAM IMPUL director, won the 2nd in 2001 Formula Nippon championship series.

2002

Retired from racing driver with holding splendid records including 568 starts, victories 131 times, Podium 267 times.
